Here’s what all you need to know before attending the Full Moon Party
What is this Party About?
The Full Moon Party –a party that takes epicness to a whole new level! An estimated 20,000 to 40,000 party goers descend on to Sunrise Beach of Haad Rin, Koh Phangan for the most famous party in the world, which makes for an incredible atmosphere in the area! We’ve all heard of it and saw the stories turning into real deal.
How it Started?
Legend has it that in 1987 (or maybe ’86? or ’88? No one really knows.), a group of backpackers threw a birthday party for their friend on the night of the full moon. They had so much fun that they came back the following year to do it again. And then the following month and then the month after that. Word got out about this incredible party on the full moon and soon backpackers far and wide came to take part.
When is the Full Moon Party?
As the name would suggest, the party happens when there is a full moon. However, be aware that the dates sometimes shift around local holidays so it might not be exactly on the full moon. The Belongings Boogie: Avoid Losing Your Cool
Copy That ID Magic: Leave the real deal at home and dance the night away with a copy of your ID. No stressing about losing your passport – that's not the kind of souvenir you want.
Say Cheese! Grab a disposable camera for those wild moments. And if you're feeling fancy with your camera, upload pics online beforehand. Cameras can be replaced, but memories are priceless!
Cash Dash: Take a fixed amount of cash and leave the plastic at your crib. Running out of money means it's time to hit the brakes on spending – a natural party budget control!
Insurance High-Five: Travel insurance is your party BFF. Trust us; you'll thank yourself later.
The Safety Samba
Footwear Fabulous: Protect those precious toes! Wear protective (But not Expensive) shoes. Broken bottles + bare feet = a painful dance. Slip on some flip-flops and keep grooving.
Bucket Marathon: Pace yourself! It's a marathon, not a sprint. Guzzle water between your buckets – your body will thank you later.
Fire Dance Finesse: If you're eyeing the fire rope jumping, do it before too many buckets kick in. Burns are not the kind of party souvenir you want.
Ocean Dips: Hold up! The sea isn't your typical bath. Avoid the water after dark – besides safety concerns, think about where all those party people are going for a midnight toilet break.
Drugs Are a No-Go: Thailand's got strict rules, and you don't want to play with expensive trouble. Keep the party clean, folks!
Buddy System Brilliance: Stick together like glue. If you venture solo, have a meet-up plan because finding your lost pals in the sea of neon madness is no easy feat.

Morning After Moves: Wake up on the beach? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Grab water, and sunscreen, and cover up if you can. The sun's out, and you don't want to fry.
If you stay smart and stay safe, this will be an experience you’ll talk about forever (even if some of the flashbacks are hazy). Spend the night making new friends, dance until you can’t stand anymore, sing until you lose your voice, paint your body all the colours of the neon rainbow and have more fun than you ever thought was possible!
